For Coaches

Clear information. Less guessing.

Innovative Physical Therapy works alongside coaches — not around them. Here's what that looks like in practice.

How the clinic works with coaches

Coaches know the athlete. The clinic needs that context.

The best outcomes happen when the PT and the coach are speaking the same language. Innovative Physical Therapy prioritizes that from the first session.

Athlete handoff summary

After every evaluation, athletes can choose to send the coach a one-page summary: what the evaluation found, what the athlete can do now, what to avoid, and what the next milestone is. Designed to be practical — not a wall of medical jargon.

Skill modification framework

Rather than "no tumbling," coaches receive: what level of tumbling, on what surface, with what volume limit, and what the escalation signal is. Coaches can work within those parameters without constant check-ins.

Direct communication

If something changes — athlete reports increased pain, a new symptom appears, or the competition schedule shifts — the clinic wants to know. And coaches can reach the PT directly when clinical questions come up mid-training, with athlete and family consent.

Return-to-sport timing

Innovative Physical Therapy factors in the competition calendar when building RTS progressions. If a major meet is 6 weeks out, the PT and the coach build toward that — with honest conversation about what's realistic and what risks that timeline introduces.

Sample coach summary

What a handoff looks like.

This is a simplified example. Actual summaries are tailored to the specific athlete, injury, and training context.

Athlete Handoff Summary — Week 3 Post-Ankle Sprain
Cleared for: All bar work · Beam conditioning (no dismounts) · Floor conditioning without tumbling · Single-leg strength work
Avoid: Landing skills · Tumbling passes · Vault run · Single-leg leaps and jumps on floor
Volume limit: Full volume on cleared skills — no restriction if athlete is asymptomatic
Next milestone: Jump-landing progression test at Week 4 PT visit. Will communicate outcome within 24 hours.
Escalate if: Swelling increases · Pain rises above 3/10 during cleared activity · Athlete reports instability sensation
Gym partnership

Working with gyms on an ongoing basis.

For gyms that want a consistent PT relationship rather than one-off referrals.

A gym partnership means regular communication, consistent availability for coach questions, and a PT who knows the gym's athletes — training history, tendencies, upcoming meets — rather than meeting each athlete cold at each visit.

This works best for programs with 10+ competitive athletes where load management, injury prevention, and return-to-sport decisions are a regular part of the training environment.

Services at a glance

Available to gymnastics programs.

Some services run on-site at the gym. Some run one athlete at a time. Most programs use a mix.

At the gym

Training Room Hours

Scheduled on-site blocks in a small-group format. Reduced rate for established patients in the group setting.

Team and Seasonal Screening Days

A movement and readiness screen for the team. Each athlete receives an individual report, and the gym receives a summary of findings across the group.

Coach Education

Soreness versus injury, modifying assignments, managing training load, and when an athlete needs outside evaluation.

Parent Education Night

An evening talk for the parent group, with take-home material for later reference.

For an individual athlete

Gymnastics Evaluation and Treatment

A full-length one-on-one session. The athlete leaves with an injury profile, a plan, and a realistic timeline.

Return-to-Sport Planning

A written, phased plan with clear criteria to advance, broken out by event and by surface.

Season Monitoring

Training load, symptoms, and wellness tracked across the competitive season.

Remote Consultation

For out-of-town families, second opinions, or a focused starting point when hands-on care is handled locally.

No cost to the gym

Services are cash-pay and arranged directly with the family. The gym is not billed and carries no financial obligation. Rates available on request.
